Port O'Brien

I still have no idea how to get a music player onto this blog, so we'll have to depend on myspace and band websites. Oh well. Visit www.myspace.com/portobrien. My favourite is "I Woke Up Today." Perfect vocals are overrated. Give me more honest chorus-singing and I'll be happy for the rest of time. Or at least the rest of the week. Woot!

Apples In Stereo - Signal In The Sky

This song has the requisite 'la-la-la's for me to like it. As well as puppet monsters starring in the video. Sunshine pop!

Feist - My Moon My Man

Feist's new album, The Reminder, comes out on tuesday.

I see You, You see Me - The Magic Numbers

The Magic Numbers came out with a new album a few months ago, but the reviews weren't too great:

"Folk rockers THE MAGIC NUMBERS were devastated when music critics panned their second album THOSE THE BROKES, but they're confident the LP will be hailed as a classic in a few years time. The LOVE ME LIKE YOU hitmakers were nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize for their acclaimed debut album THE MAGIC NUMBERS, but they were shocked by the venom of the British music press when its follow-up was released in October (06). Guitarist and singer ROMEO STODART admits, "I'm not going to lie. We read a lot of the reviews in the UK and they set me back. I wasn't expecting that, but you can't please everyone. It's out there now, so in five or six years people can discover it anew. "I think the (second) record is a classic, even better than the first one. I don't want to seem big-headed, but I don't think there's any group out there doing what we're doing. I get bored of new bands all sounding the same."

Hmm. Does sound a bit big-headed, but it doesn't change my feelings for the band. Here's one of their older videos. The main character is like an uninhibited version of Amelie with a hat fetish. I'm in love already.

Joan Baez - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

Guilty pleasure. Joan Baez may not be the coolest, but she sure puts a nice spin on older songs. This time it seems a little too happy for such a sad song. But that's the beauty of it.

Islands: Rough Gem

Didn't mean to have TWO Islands posts. But this video is cool enough to justify it.

Islands: Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby

More happy happy happy music that doesn't make any sense. Hooray!

Bob Dylan (Time Magazine Interview)

Dylan doesn't need Time Magazine.

Bob Dylan - Don't Think Twice, It's All Right(DLB OUTTAKE)

Probably my favourite song of all time - this video is a gem.

Camera Obscura - Keep it Clean

Young Folks

The Boy Least Likely To - Video
